Gene Culberson, Pit Master of Back Woods Bar-b-Que has gained a reputation of one of the best cooks in SC. Cooking approx. 30 events a year along with his wife Tesa, they have gained a winning reputation in SCBA but also a formidable competitor in KCBS. Back Woods Bar-B-Que finished 2014 as SCBA Master Barbecue Runner up, only to come back and win the 2015 & 2016 SCBA Master Barbecue State Championship. Smoke-n-Carolina Cook Team
Mark Spurling is the Pitmaster and chief bottle washer for the Smokin-n-Carolina Cook Team. Mark started cooking BBQ almost 30 years ago and fell in love with the process, flavor, and challenges. Mark has a passion for helping others, while using his God given talent of cooking to help many non-profit organizations each year with fund raisers as well as church functions. To hone his skills, Mark competes in the SC BBQ Association pushing him and his team to make some the best BBQ around. Smokin-n-Carolina is currently the only cook team in the SCBA currently using a wood burning rotisserie smoker.
Hog – N – Around is a local catering & BBQ competition team founded by a couple guys with a BBQ habit.
Jacob Jackson & Trey Hoey started cooking BBQ several years ago and have been competing for two years now. The catering started along with the competing to help pay for the BBQ bug.Hog-N-Around is proud of the true wood smoked product that we put out. Watch out for the Hog-N-Around trailer in the near future around Columbia.
